In this Privacy Policy, "we", "us" and "AVS Bullion" refer to Akshara Jewellers Pty Ltd (ABN 55 621 099 545), trading as AVS Bullion, of 59A Marion Street, Harris Park NSW 2150, Australia.
"Service" refers to the bullion buying and selling business conducted through our website (avsbullion.com.au) and at our Harris Park store.
AVS Bullion is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it. We collect personal information by lawful and fair means only.
You are not required to provide your information, but if you don't — or the law prevents us from verifying your identity — we will not be able to open an account or transact with you.
All identity verification is performed manually by our own staff. We do not use third-party electronic identity verification services, and we do not collect biometric information or conduct credit checks.
We send marketing email only to people who have given us consent, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time by contacting general@avsbullion.com.au.
You will always receive transactional messages relating to your account and orders — order confirmations, invoices, dispatch notices and any communications required by law — regardless of marketing preferences.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Your account information, order records and identity documents are stored in Australia, in a database and secure document store located in Sydney.
A small number of service providers process limited personal information for us, and some of them operate overseas:
We do not send your identity documents or financial information overseas. Before disclosing personal information to any overseas provider, we take reasonable steps as required by Australian Privacy Principle 8 to ensure it is handled in accordance with Australian privacy law.
We do not sell or lease your personal information to anyone. We share it only with:
Our website links to external sites — our social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and review platforms. We don't control those sites; their own privacy policies apply once you leave ours.
The AML/CTF Act and taxation law require us to retain customer identification records and transaction records for at least 7 years. If you close your account, we keep your records for as long as those laws require and no longer than the purposes for which they may lawfully be used.
You may ask us at any time for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. You can update most profile details yourself by logging into your account; for anything else, contact general@avsbullion.com.au.
We will respond within a reasonable time. If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain about the refusal.
Because of the retention obligations in section 9, we cannot delete identity and transaction records on request while the law requires us to keep them — a request to delete your KYC file is one we are legally unable to fulfil during the retention period. Once records are no longer required by law, we destroy or de-identify them.
We protect your personal information with industry-standard measures: encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, identity documents held in a private store accessible only to authorised staff, multi-factor authentication on administrative access, and security controls on the website itself. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we take the protection of a business that holds identity documents seriously, and we review these measures as the site changes.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Changes are posted on this page and take effect when posted. If a change is significant, we may also email account holders.
To ask a question, exercise your rights, or make a complaint, contact general@avsbullion.com.au or phone +61 491 930 950. We take complaints seriously and will investigate and respond.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:
